Is The Law Of Attraction a New Age or Ancient Belief?
The Law Of Attraction (also referred to as Universal Law and LOA) is commonly associated with New Age theories, but its teachings can be seen thousands of years ago. The idea that thoughts introduced into reality can attract like energy can be seen in the teachings of Buddha, who stated, “What you have become is the result of what you have thought.” Hardly a New Age concept.
Law of Attraction can be seen 3000 years ago in early Hindu teachings of “like attracts like.” It is the basis of Western “positive thinking” which became popular during the 19th century.
In 1906 William Walker Atkinson wrote “Thought Vibration Or, The Law of Attraction in the Thought World” which showed a formulation of the ideas now known as as the Law of Attraction. Yes, this book was written in 1906!! Seems like “The Secret” may have been out for a few years before the movie release.
In 1910 the inspirational book The Science of Getting Rich, was written by Wallace D. Wattles. In fact, Rhonda Byrne, creator of The Secret, told Australia’s Herald Sun newspaper in January that she stumbled upon “the secret” while mourning the death of her father in 2004 by reading The Science of Getting Rich. It was this $3 book that inspired the multi-million dollar movie, “The Secret”
One should also note, that The Science of Getting Rich is also the book that influenced Bob Proctor so much, that he has developed an entire course based around it, called The SGR Program (Science of Getting Rich Program. In fact, you can get the first 7 lessons teaching you how to use the Law of Attraction for free by CLICKING HERE. The Science of Getting Rich briefcase (SEEN HERE) costs nearly two thousand dollars!
In March 2006 a film named The Secret was developed around the “Law of Attraction”, and was later developed into Book form using the same name. The Secret movie and the Secret Book have been selling at a tremendous pace and have gained widespread attention across the media, with appearances on Saturday Night Live, Larry King, Ellen Degeneres and twice on Oprah.
So, the Law of Attraction isn’t something new, or solely a “New Age” belief. It has been taught for thousands of years. It is in action right now just as it has been in action throughout time. If you believe in it, you can, with practise, learn to harness it’s powers. If you refuse to believe in it, it matters not, it will still work through you and bring to you that which you think, feel and vibrate at.
I was told it was a newage belief and I had a problem fitting it in with my religious teachings.
Personally, I see it like the Law of Gravity. It has nothing to do with my religious beliefs whatsoever. Because I see it as a matter-of-fact, I have no problem trying to fit it into anything.
Hope that helps.
Hey, I’m a big fan of The Law of Attraction. My life changed drastically in positive way after I have watched “The Secret” I couldn’t believe it.
It’s all too good to be true and the whole idea become even clearer after I read “Attraction Accelerator” by Bob Proctor
I’m so grateful to those who involve in making such a great video.
