5 Lies Most People Were Taught To Believe
These 5 things are not only not true, they are self-limiting beliefs that hold people back from becoming all that they are capable of becoming. You might not believe all 5, but I bet you were taught some of these:
1. Money is the root of all evil. – that somehow having money is a bad thing and that people who have a lot of money are bad people. Not only is this not true ( I went into great detail about this issue here.) but it is a limiting thought that you need to get out of your mind so that you can be free to have all the wealth you deserve.
2. School will teach my kids what they need to know. – Bob Proctor said that the problem with education is that it teaches us what to think, not how to think. I think Bob is right, but it goes much further than that. Schools will not teach your children any of the following: How to set and achieve goals in life, how to balance a checkbook, how loans work and how interest is calculated, how your thoughts and feelings create your reality, how your outer world is a reflection of your inner world or even how to setup and start your own business. They don’t teach children to think creatively, they teach them to memorize something just long enough to be able to pass a test. The entire school system is geared towards producing workers, not entrepreneurs. The herd mentality is taught; don’t be different or stand out, just go with the flow. If you want your son or daughter to to succeed in life and learn to follow their dreams and not settle for mediocrity, you simply can not rely on the school systems to do it for you. Morals, values and ethics are either taught or not by the parents.
3 Your can trust your doctor as the expert in treating your medical condition I don’t know if it’s the white coats or the terrible hand writing on small note pads, but people blindly trust their doctors opinions and hand over their health and well being (and their check books) to these people.
Twice I have been diagnosed with incurable diseases in the last five years. I have since cured myself of both of them. I am not alone in this, visit websites like www.curezone.com and you find hundreds of stories of people who have cured the incurable, but when you tell your doctor about it they think you are crazy until you show them your medical documents. Then they think the previous doctor must have mis-diagnosed you, because the condition is not curable. Once you get over that hurdle, they simply call it a miracle, and go about telling everyone else that is an incurable condition.
Never believe something is incurable, it just means that the doctor doesn’t have a pill that he can write a prescription for or a surgeon he can refer you to. Remember, doctors do not make any money off “cured” patients. The medical industry makes billions of dollars off of people staying sick and needing treatments.
Everything is curable, because you are building your reality from within. You may suddenly wake up one day cured, or you may need a brain story so you find something natural will cure your incurable problem. Either way, it was you that created the disease and you that will cure it.
4 A good job is the best way to earn money.
This one is wide-spread and yet so easy to disprove. 1)Ask any entrepreneur if he would like to quit and get a job instead of following his dreams. Now, keeping that in mind 2) Go ask everyone you know with a job if they’d like to quit and work for themselves instead. I think that will clear up this false truth real quickly.
Every millionaire teacher I have ever had has told me that a job is the worst way to make money, because you are trading your time for money and you can never get wealthy that way. Unless of course you were able to invent some sort of time machine that would give you more time then everyone else, but then you would have to be an entrepreneur in order to invent the time machine.
You don’t have to invent a time machine if you want to work from home, check out Your Wealth Course. You will discover a hundred different methods, from a hundred different people, including me, on how to make money online, automatically.
5. You can’t succeed in life without a college degree The results of this belief are devastating. First off, it is estimated that 80% of Americans do not have a degree. With that said, here are a list of some amazingly successful people (love them or not) who are among that 80% of Americans with no college degree:
Walt Disney – he didn’t even finish high school, yet he built the Disney empire. Bill Gates – dropped out his junior year, yet he created Microsoft and became the richest man in the world. Harry Truman – 33rd President of USA, worked on the family farm, never attended college. George Washington – 1st president, founding father, revolutionary war hero. Michael Dell – Dropped out of the University of Texas at Austin after Dell Computer Corporation. Thomas Edision – inventor of the phonograph and the light bulb. Abraham Lincoln – The 16th President of the United States was self educated. The list goes on an on: Steve Jobs, Orville & Wilbur Wright, Steve Martin, Charlton Heston, Elvis Presley, Eddie Murphy, Jon Bon Jovi, Jesse Ventura, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Lance Armstrong, Michael Moore, Reverend Al Sharpton, Briney Spears, Eleanor Roosevelt, John Rockefeller, Paul Allen, Walter Cronkite, Peter Jennings, Henry Ford….
Leave a comment below on a lie that you were taught and had to overcome. I love to hear from you.
As you already know I was brought up with a belief in scarcity and that money does not grow on trees and I am not made of money. All that kind of junk. This took me a lot of work to overcome.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, the governor of the great state of California should be on your list of no college degree.
I told that sex was evil and something that only dirty people did.
I was raised catholic and I recovered from that.
You’ve been dugg. Keep it up.
Jenny – I was brought up with similar beliefs. We can over come anything if we begin by changing our mind. Thanks for the comment.
Jorge – You bet, he more than qualifies! Thanks!
Michelle – I certainly hope you overcame that. 🙂 Thanks!!
Jacob – You are one of many recovering Catholics. 🙂 Thanks for the comment.
Matthew – Thanks for digging the article!
Great Article.
People’s belief in a male gendered angry and vengeful God has set the world back a thousand years.
OMG! I have all of these beliefs. How do I break them?
You mentioned Bob Proctor: I had never heard of him before “The Secret”, but he makes a lot of sense. I recently read an interview with him in which he explains the concepts of multiple sources of income (or MSIs), and also goes into material which they left out of the film. Worth reading.
