I was asked the other day to explain how the law of attraction has changed my life.  She wanted to know beyond the money and on a deeper level, how has my life been changed.

I must tell you that I didn’t begin by learning what is called “The Law of Attraction”.  In fact my wife and I began using this power in the later 90’s.   We called it “Bending Reality”.   Somehow we realized that we could bend or change our reality by using our minds.   I never thought of it as a attracting change…   and honestly I still think that our definition of “bending reality” is probably more accurate than “Law of Attraction”, which is how it has become known today.

Once I had this realization, that I could bend and change my reality, everything began changing in my life.  I think people around me noticed even faster than I did.

Looking back, I would have to say that I am as near opposite of who I use to be as is humanly possible.

I use to be very high strung and now I am relaxed.

I use to be a bouncer at a bar and I engaged in physical confrontations nightly…. Now I am a peace seeker and have not been in a any kind of physical confrontation since 1999.

I use to drink alcohol daily and now I rarely ever drink and if I do it is in moderation.

I use to be quick tempered… I use to have anxiety… I use to be stressed out all the time… I use to hold grudges for years…. Now I am the opposite of these as well.

Words can not describe it, but I live in a completely different world now.

Where I USE to attract conflicts everywhere I went, life now runs smoothly for me.

Where I use to have lack I now have abundance.

Where I use to have a job, I now have multiple streams of income.

I don’t take life so seriously now. I see messages in my environment daily… like little winks from the universe.  I often recognize external manifestations as previous internal thoughts and feelings.

Whenever I see something I desire, or a change I want to occur in life, I simply write it on my Manifesting Card and I KNOW that change will take place.  I have learned to trust in the universe to care for me.

I used to hate life and hate a lot of people… now I love life and everyone and everything in it.

I use to expect the worst and I usually received it.  Now I expect the best and usually get that.

I use to weight 120lbs more than I currently weigh, and I use to try to loose weight.

I use to attract misery to myself and I had a tendency to wallow in it.   Now I attract situations with happy endings and fun-filled adventure.

I guess my old life was spent warring with the world and focused on destruction while I am now at peace with my past and focus on creation and helping of others.

I use to serve people spirits (alcohol) for a living, which was damaging to their bodies, and now I serve people uplifting spiritual writings and focus on healing peoples spirits and bodies.

I use to save every cent I scraped together…  I was a real penny pincher. I would forgo enjoyment for the security of money in the bank.  I always expected a “rainy day”, and I often had them. I didn’t take vacations because I would rather have more money. Now I live mostly in a state of enjoyment. I take many vacations and I always know that the money will take care of itself. It always does.  I expect sunny days and that is what I tend to receive.

My life has truly done a 180 degree turn around.

Once you know the truth… really KNOW it… you can never go back.

I don’t mean forcing yourself to believe a certain thing. I don’t mean choosing to believe a certain thing. I mean discovering a truth larger than you… larger than words… once you do this… you can never turn back.

It’s similar to telling a child that there is no Santa. No matter how hard you try, once you realize that there is no Santa, you can never go back to believing in Santa. No matter how hard you try.

I have done my best to put everything I have discovered into a single course.

Every trick… not only my own, but those that I have read by works most people have never heard of.  I have gathered those books up also, and included them along with my own discoveries and put them all inside My Secret Course.

Peacefully Yours,

John Derrick

The Key To The Law of AttractionThe key to peace came to me early this morning while I was in a meditative state. It was a realization that summed up the key to a peaceful existence.

“The key to peace, is to realize there is no right or wrong on matters of opinion.” John Derrick, 2008

It may not sound like much at first glance, but when you recognize that everything is based on opinion, this message takes on a deeper meaning. How many lives have been lost because of differences of opinions? How many wars? How much suffering?

Most of us are nothing more than a walking, talking collector of opinions. Some we came up with on our own, but most of them were given to us by others. Opinions are dished out like facts from our parents and teachers at an early age. You get them from your church, newspaper, coworkers and local community. The television is teaching an entire generation their “facts”, all the while the audience is unaware of the nature of opinions.

What is a fact?
A fact would have to stand the test of time! When we look back at the generations in our past, it is easy for us to laugh about their facts because our facts tell us that they had everything wrong. Doesn’t it stand to reason that future generations will look back at us laughing at how we had it all wrong?

Facts can not change… and since the facts are always changing, it seems pretty obvious that the facts of today are nothing more than the opinion that is most agreed upon.

ALL OPINION:
Who’s religion is correct
Which political party is correct
What is good and what is bad
Legal and illegal is nothing more than the opinion of the prevailing government

Even definitions which appear to be fact are always changing. What is big today will not be big tomorrow… so was it ever big to begin with? What looks good today may not look good in the years to come. (Look at haircuts from the 70’s or 80’s). Everything that was fast in 1970 is considered slow today.

So someone may point out that a specific measurement of objects will always be a fact. If a ball is 10 inches in diameter today, it will always be 10 inches in diameter. No, even that is not true. The ball will deflate someday. Eventually it will decompose into nothing that resembles a ball. What will it measure then? How will you measure it?

You see, everything here in this physical universe is temporary. Your house, dog, cat, car, spouse, children and even your own body is temporary. Physical matter is always changing so there really are no facts, only temporary opinions that masquerade as facts.

Let’s create a hypothetical situation where scientists have created a type of material that will never rust or decompose and it will last forever. Not possible I know, but let’s pretend. They create a 10 inch diameter ball out of this material. Now you have a fact right? Maybe, but it’s not the size of the ball that brings about the suffering.

It’s the opinion that people hold about the ball that will cause suffering.

Some will think the ball is the greatest achievement of mankind and a triumphant accomplishment over nature.

Others will say that is represents all that is evil about mankind and that this new material will be a permanent scar on the planet… just one more poof of our polluting nature.

Still others will claim that man never made the ball at all and that God created the ball in seven days…. and only his chosen people are worthy to hold the ball.

People fight… kill… and die for their opinions…. because they believe they are facts.

If you want peace in your life, the best place to start is to realize that everything you think you know is just your opinion. Odds are you were probably given it from someone else.

Everything is temporary. You make the temporary nature of your life more painful and shorter in duration by running around fervently arguing your opinions to somebody who is every bit as temporary as yourself.

If everyone suddenly woke up and realized this, the vast majority of human suffering would end.

The Key To The Law of AttractionI began studying what is now called “The Law of Attraction”, before it was named “The Law of Attraction”.

In fact, when I first became aware of it, I had no name for it at all. My wife and I had noticed that whatever we put our minds to we could make happen. Events would align to make things we were focusing on become a reality. We would decide we wanted something and then all sorts of things that others would perceive as out of our control, would happen at just the right time and in just the right way to make our intended outcome become a reality.

We called it “Bending Reality”.

I knew there was something more and I was driven down a path of spirituality and self discovery. I was driven to find the meaning of life. Along the way I discovered that *I* was much more than I appeared to be. I found that I was more than just a physical body. I learned meditation and I took the Course in Miracles.

Along the way I began a formal training in conscious creation, which is what everyone is now calling the Law of Attraction.

I am disturbed by what I see going on with the Law of Attraction today. Everyone is promoting the Law of Attraction as if it were a magic pill that suddenly makes you rich. Yes, the Law of Attraction can be used to acquire wealth, and I must confess that back in 1999 when Patti and I were “bending reality”, I went from $0 per month in a home business to $10,000 per month income in my home business, in less than 6 months.

The difference, however, is that I approached the Law of Attraction as a stepping stone on a spiritual journey. It is not the answer to the meaning of life. It doesn’t give you the big picture. It is only one piece of the big picture.

Another difference one could argue is that I took action, and many people today are under the impression that they just have to wish it so and it will be.

The Law of Attraction is not as easy as it sounds. It is an incredible tool and if you approach it as a stepping stone you will find a much deeper understanding of the world around you. The Law of Attraction is not as it first appears. You are not just attracting things to you, although it may seem like that.

Let me ask you this: If you are more than just a physical body, then where do you begin and end? If you are connected to everything, then why do you want to separate yourself from all the things you desire?

It doesn’t matter if you understand what I am saying or not. I imagine what I wrote about yesterday came as quite a shock to a lot of people. Just know this: The Law of Attraction is real. It works. BUT… It is just the beginning of a wonderful journey of self discovery.

SpiritualI was at the movies on Saturday when I had a profound experience.  The feelings were so strong and moving I don’t know how to convey them with mere words, but I will try.  I want to share this with you.

I was watching the movie and the main actor was in a struggle.  It was an emotional scene.  A scene filled with drama and I was feeling tense for the actor.  Suddenly I became aware of the fact that I was tense despite the fact that *I* was perfectly safe.  I was feeling the actor’s pain and going through the drama that he was portraying up on the big screen.  Somehow I had lost awareness of who I really was.  I was drawn into a pretend world and was experiencing fear when in reality I was perfectly safe.  I knew I could not be harmed by the movie, yet I had forgotten that somehow.

My perspective shifted and I could see myself watching the drama on the screen.  I could see the drama and observe the struggle of the actor without feeling the drama myself.  It was a dramatic shift, but it certainly didn’t end there.
I then realized that the actor also knew that he was pretending and that he was perfectly safe.  In order for him to act out his part, however, he had to actually allow himself to feel the drama.  He had become lost in the role himself and was feeling and experiencing the drama of something that was not real.

My consciousness then shifted back even further and I could see who I really am… a spiritual being… who was always perfectly safe.  Deep down I had always known this.  I had been drawn into the illusion we call life in much the same way the actor had been drawn into the movie.   I was relating more with the actor, my physical body, rather than the eternal spiritual self that I really am.

In that moment I knew myself.  I truly knew the entirety of me.  (I am getting goosebumps right now as I type this!).

My perspective shifted back even further and I could see my body in the theatre watching the movie.  My body was just an actor in a movie and I knew that I was not my body.  I had allowed myself to believe that I was the body for so long that I had forgotten who I really was.  I felt all the drama of the body and I believed it was real.  I believed I was not safe.

Time slowed down.  I was truly in the moment.  I felt at one with everyone in the theater.  I was at one with everything.   I could feel everything that was going on simultaneously.  A girl talking on a cell phone,  a couple cuddling,  a woman fixing her earring, a man who was gripping the arms of his seat.  I felt them all not as if they were separate from me, but as if I were all of them.  My perspective was not through my eyes or ears… it was as if I was everything in the movie.

And in the midst of this terribly sad scene on the movie…..  a scene where a tear fell down the actors cheek….
… I burst into laughter.

The idea that I had believed that I was nothing more than a body, and all the levels of deception it took to make me believe this experience was real…..  That was truly funny to me.

My higher-self or soul, or spiritual body, or whatever you want to call it…  It was having a grand old laugh at what a great game it is that it is playing.  A truly great game.

It was an amazing moment in my life.  I left that movie a different person.   I am so grateful for this path that I am on.  I am so grateful for that wonderful experience.

WOW.  That’s all I can say.  WOW.
